These friendly Southern Rays at Stocking Island
approach the shore to greet the waders there.
Or maybe it’s their proximity to the conch shells;
a ray favorite.
The water’s so clear, you really get a good look
at these guys, especially since they’re not shy.
Watching the rays approach, “That’s kinda cool,
but not sure how close I want to get” Wayne, Phil
(Wayne’s Dad) and Gunnel (Phil wife) would
say if I gave the “thought bubbles.”
Phil steps a little closer but figures
he’s close enough. The ray’s stinger
tail is not too far from his feet.
|I swear this guy was coming up to say Hello!”Or maybe he was interested in some guppy sashimi.Anyhow, he flapped right up againstmy leg with velvety soft skin. The center topof the ray was rougher in texture.|
These folks are a bit more adventurous
with the rays.
Her body language projected she
wasn’t quite sure what to make of
the ray’s friendly drive-bys.
